A Home for Hebrew is a Home for Us.
The Academy of the Hebrew Language’s major milestone is to build a home for the Hebrew language, called the Minve, which will grace Jerusalem’s National Quarter.
This modern, sprawling center will attract visitors from around the world, inviting Jews, history enthusiasts and language lovers to explore the ongoing legacy and cultural significance of Hebrew.
A Stunning View of Hebrew’s Past, Present and Future.
To create the design of the Minve, the Academy of the Hebrew Language held a national competition across Israel. And out of 100 design bids that were proposed, it was the groundbreaking vision of Mayslits Kassif Roytman Architects (MKR) that was chosen.
Minve (מִנְּוֵה, pronounced “meen-VE”) is a new Hebrew word derived from nave (נָוֶה, “na-VE”); the latter means ‘home, abode’ and also ‘beautiful, pleasant.’
The design embraces Jerusalem’s own stunning natural environment, fostering personal connections and interactions through its inviting and open structure.
The Centerpiece of the Minve:
The Museum of the Hebrew Language
In addition to the organization’s educational initiatives and new research institutes, the Minve will be the site of a stunning, one-of-a-kind museum dedicated to the Hebrew Language.
This state-of-the-art complex will illustrate the history of the language, the pivotal role it played in ancient and modern culture, and its evolution into today’s modern Hebrew.
The museum will present a visual, auditory and experiential picture of Hebrew, to visitors from around the world.
